ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden giving some context to the violence in the city. There have been 19 shootings in the last 4 days. He says a familiar theme, people are not cooperating with police, following shootings.
"We always remind everyone that reporting through Crimestoppers is the way valuable information can be passed to us, anonymously and can often be rewarded," Hayden says.
Another obstacle is the fact that he's 147 officers down and says the residency requirement needs to go.
Hayden says 50-percent of homicides are drug related, another 35-percent are over personal disputes-some of which are over drugs, and 15 percent are domestic.
