LOOK: Thousands of volunteers showed up to lay 26,000 wreaths at Jefferson Barracks

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - We were sharing for the past month that Wreaths Across America was asking for wreath sponsors and volunteers to help lay the wreaths on veteran's graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Although they didn't hit the goal of 50,000 wreaths, it was by many other measures a success.
Kathy Schulte, a Gateway Blue Star Mother said Saturday morning they couldn't fit any more people into the cemetery.
She said Jefferson Barracks was filled to capacity as thousands of volunteers showed up to lay Christmas wreaths on the gravesites of veterans as part of the Wreaths Across America project.
Schulte said they laid 26,000 wreaths this year, more than double what did in 2018.
