PHOTOS: First renderings of NGA campus in St. Louis released

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Today, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) reveal concept renderings for the Next NGA West (N2W) campus from the design-build team McCarthy HITT winning proposal. The entirety of the campus is anticipated to be operational in 2025.
One of the unique aspects of the new headquarters is an unclassified area where, for the first time, NGA officials will be able to meet with those from outside the agency, like from business or education institutions. NGA Director Vice Admiral Robert Sharp says that will allow the applications and science used by the NGA to be used in a wider context.
Sharp also said today that the NGA has reached a research and development agreement with St. Louis University and is working on simliar agreements with Missouri and Washington Universities.
As the construction agent, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District is responsible for the design, construction and delivery of the N2W facilities.
These concept renderings depict the 97-acre site located in the historic St. Louis Place neighborhood at the intersection of Jefferson and Cass avenues. Showcased is the 712,000 square foot office building, parking structures, visitor control center and other site features.
Next NGA West is the largest single federal investment project in the history of St. Louis.
