Super Bowl LV kicked off on Sunday between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs with an attendance of about 22,000 – the lowest in Super Bowl history.
Yet, it did not seem to appear that way.
The 22,000 fans – including 7,500 vaccinated healthcare – looked like they were packed in together tightly at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., raising concern from many others watching from home.
Part of that may have been due to the fact that there were cardboard cutouts placed in empty seats, which may have made it difficult for some to decipher just how spread out the fans were in the seats.
Still, the aesthetics did not look great with the coronavirus pandemic still raging, and many took to Twitter to express their concern and outrage over the amount of fans packed into the stadium, which some did not believe was accurate.
Hopefully, it is just the cardboard cutouts making everything look closer. Otherwise, yikes.
