PHOTOS: New views inside St. Louis CITY stadium construction

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Construction of the soccer stadium in Downtown West is on time with the expected completion date 253 days away: July 22, 2022. On Thursday, academy players, some fans and media go to experience the view from the pitch with the seating bowl taking shape for the first time.

The St. Louis CITY SC stadium may not yet have a corporate sponsor, but it's identity is coming to life:

With the team not beginning play in Major League Soccer until 2023, the team says some of the first major events hosted in the stadium could be watch parties for the 2022 World Cup that will be played in November and December.

The City View section offers the highest seats in the house, but the furthest seat from the pitch will still be only 120 feet away

The west side will hold the stadium's 28 suites, press box and City View section, which offers the best view into downtown St. Louis

"It looks like the Arch." The panels underneath the canopy were selected because they resemble the Gateway Arch

Here's where the players will enter the pitch pregame. There will be a premium indoor area where fans can be just feet from the players as they line up

The home locker room will feature an oval shape, which is what Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel requested to create a tighter team atmosphere

The stadium architect called the south side of the stadium the "front porch of St. Louis." Look left and you see the Gateway Arch, look right and you can see for miles, including a sunset views

This is a view from the street level that fans will walk in on. You can see, the pitch is set below for a "dramatic opening of the stadium"

Next to the "porch" is the South Bar club section that will be enclosed with glass on all sides. It can be used on non-game days for weddings and corporate events

The South Bar will feature live cooking and other exclusive food and drink experiences

In this area, south of Market Street looking north towards the stadium, will be three training fields and a two-story building that includes the players' lounge, dining hall and fitness center

This tunnel under Market Street will connect the to team's headquarters, players' lounge and training fields to the stadium. It's the only site like it in all of MLS
