ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis native Pat Maroon has his second chance to spend a day with the most historic trophy in sports – the Stanley Cup. He's back in St. Louis Wednesday and took the cup to his alma mater, Oakville High School.

And don't be alarmed by the jersey, although it looks a lot like a Boston Bruins sweater, it's actually an Oakville Hockey jersey. Just like the one he used to wear.

He spoke to the student body at a pep rally in his honor, signed autographs, took plenty of photos and received a surprise from the school district. He's going to be inducted into the Mehlville School District Alumni Hall of Fame.
This year the 33-year-old forward won his third Stanley Cup – and third in a row – with back-to-back championships by his Tampa Bay Lightning. He was, of course, the hometown hero of the St. Louis Blues 2019 championship team as well.
This would have been his third time with the Cup, but the pandemic ruined the tradition for the Lightning players, coaches and staff last summer.
Maroon shared some words of advice with the Oakville students, telling them to "never give up on your dreams."
