ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The fears of many St. Louis Blues fans have come to fruition, after defenseman Carl Gunnarson was helped off the ice in Monday's game.
Gunnarson will miss the rest of the 2020-21 season after sustaining a right knee injury in last night's loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Blues made the announcement Tuesday.
Gunnarsson is currently undergoing further orthopedic evaluation and imaging to determine the full extent of the injury.
"That's a guy that has laid it on the line for this organization for a long time," Brayden Schenn said after the game. "He's a hell of a teammate and a good guy. The guy is an absolute warrior. It's tough to see."
Gunnarsson has played in 11 games for the Blues this season, posting two assists.
The injury bug is hitting St. Louis hard at the moment, as players who are out due to injuries includes Ivan Barbashev, Tyler Bozak, Colton Parayko, Jaden Schwartz, Vladimir Tarasenko and Robert Thomas.
