SAN DIEGO (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals released the 28-man roster for their best-of-three Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.
Some names noticeably absent are pitchers Carlos Martinez, Dakota Hudson and John Gant. Also outfielder Lane Thomas was left on the roster as Austin Dean was included among the team's five outfielders.
Martinez has returned home to the Dominican Republic to rehab his left oblique strain, as the team has closed its facilities at Busch Stadium.

Hudson had Tommy John surgery and Gant is dealing with a groin injury.
