Study: Busch Stadium is least-likely ballpark to see no-hitter happen

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you're hoping to see a no-hitter happen at Busch Stadium sometime soon, you may find better luck elsewhere. A new study on MLB.com named the ballpark one of the least likely stadiums to see a no-hitter in.

It was a pretty simple study. They just took the number of no-hitters divided by games played at all 30 stadiums to find the most and least likely ballparks. There were no weighted scales based on sabermetrics, ballpark factors, nor historical offensive or pitching performances.

So you can take this for what it's worth.

But one thing that is true, and perhaps telling, is that Busch Stadium is the oldest active ballpark without a no-hitter. Three other active ballpark also have yet to see a no-hitter (Target Field - Minnesota, Yankee Stadium - New York and Truist Park - Atlanta).

There were two no-hitters at the previous Busch Stadium – both thrown by Bob Forsch (1978 and 1983). But those were the only two in the stadium's 40-year history.

Despite this study's claim, there's an argument to be made that the ballpark in St. Louis is actually more likely to see a no-hitter than others. It's well-known to be a pitcher-friendly park, often ranking in the bottom five of all MLB ballparks in offensive categories like runs, homers and hits.

Yet, zero no-hitters.

That could be because St. Louis has always been able to put together a respectable MLB lineup day-after-day and year-after-year. Other factors could be the strength of schedule, top pitchers not being in the NL Central or just plain luck.

Take a look at the full study, here, which has the best odds to see a no-hitter at Globe Life Field (Rangers), T-Mobile Park (Mariners) Citi Field (Mets) loadDepot Park (Marlins) and Oakland Coliseum (A's).
