ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The story of Kolten Wong stealing a base off Yadier Molina, then literally stealing second base just keeps getting better. We now have a photo of the message Molina scribed onto the bag for Wong.
In Wednesday's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, Wong swiped second base for his first career stolen base against one of the toughest catchers to ever steal on. He was pumped, clearly.
After the game, he took the base out of the ground and is keeping it. Molina also signed it.
Here's what Molina's full message on the bag reads:
"Oh... Kolten... My Little Hawaiian Bro. Love. Compete and watch you play.
Kolten=1 Yadi=0
God Bless Bro!
BTW... you're out!"
A photo of the signed bag was shared on social media:
Being 1-for-1 in stolen bases against one of the best defensive catchers in baseball history is pretty cool, but having a relationship with Molina like Wong does makes it even sweeter.
"I've learned so much from that guy," Wong said after Wednesday's game. "Nothing but respect."
Wong and Molina were teammates for all of Wong's eight years in St. Louis.
