ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals were holding out for hero and they found one in a familiar place – No. 4, the captain, the G.O.A.T., the catcher and the new official biggest Chicago Cubs killer in baseball today – Yadier Molina.

Molina's walk-off hit (which was ruled a single) in bottom of the 10th to beat the Cubs 3-2 was his only hit in Wednesday's game. In fact, he was the only Cardinals starter without a hit in the game until that point.

And it was his 233rd career hit vs Chicago – which is now the most hits against the Cubs by an active player.

Molina surpassed Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds with that 10th-inning hit. The game-winning RBI was the 11th for Molina this season, which leads his team and is fifth in all of baseball, and the 114th of his career – good for second-most in Cardinals history (since 1974). It's also Yadi's ninth career walk-off hit and second of this season.

The Cardinals are .500 again (48-48) for the first time in more than a month.

As for the distinction of biggest active Cubs killer, Votto will have plenty more chances to reclaim the title. The Reds and Cubs face each other 10 more times this year, while the Cards and Cubs only meet up eight more times, including Thursday night to finish this four-game series.
