ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Soccer fans in St. Louis have been salivating for months as the stadium has been rising that will be home to St. Louis CITY SC. But now they've got something for local foodies to be excited about too.

The team announced it needs help selecting the food that will be featured in the stadium when the Major League Soccer team hits the field in 2023. CITY has named local award-winning chef Gerard Craft as its "Flavor Officer" to help in the process.

Fans can help map out potential future offerings by submitting their favorite local restaurants or menu items from inside the region at www.stlCITYsc.com/flavor. When the team announced the "CITY Flavors" program, there were plenty of suggestions flooding in.

“I’m always looking for new opportunities to unite my passions for both culinary expression and uplifting the community,” said Craft. “It’s going to be an exciting couple of years working with St. Louis CITY to find unique local flavors to celebrate as a part of the gameday experience while helping to bring together St. Louis’ diverse communities around food outside of the stadium as well.”

Craft is the executive chef and owner of Niche Food Group, which features six restaurants: Niche Food Group now includes six restaurants in St. Louis: Taste by Niche, Brasserie by Niche, Pastaria, Pastaria Deli & Wine, brassWELL and Cinder House.

St. Louis CITY SC and Craft will work alongside Levy, who the club chose as their stadium hospitality partner. Levy currently serves fans locally at Enterprise Center and has created the food experience at many of the new soccer-specific venues across the country.
