Pidro, 23, will finish out the season with his current club, FK Sarajevo, before formally joining STL CITY SC in July 2022.

Born in Bugojno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pidro has spent the entirety of his professional career in his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2017, Pidro began his professional playing career with FK Sarajevo in the Bosnian Premier League and was later loaned to NK Bosna Visoko for the 2018 season. He is a two-time Bosnian Premier League champion and cup winner with back-to-back club titles (2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons).

He has appeared for the Bosnian Men's National Team in games last year vs Costa Rica and the United States.

His aggressive and intense playing style grabbed the attention of Head Coach Bradley Carnell, who had a similar approach during his playing career, CITY stated in a press release.

“Pidro is a very hard-working player that not only fits well with our style of play but is a young player with significant experience,” said CITY Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He’s been on our radar for a while now and we’re confident that he can have immediate impact in the league. He has a high ceiling and we’re excited to help him grow as a player and as an individual.”

St. Louis is known for being home to the largest Bosnian population in the world, outside of Europe.

“This is a historical moment not only for FK Sarajevo or for Selmir Pidro but for all Bosnian soccer! It’s the ultimate testament to our Academy, as a place that continuously builds talent and will pave the way for other Bosnian kids to have their American dream come true!”, Ismir Mirvić, President and Owner of FK Sarajevo.
