The Billikens "are capable of winning all their games"

Kevin Wheeler spoke with SLU's play-by-play announcer Bob Ramsey on the team's success

ST. LOUIS - The Billikens own the longest active winning streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference at six games. They are second in the A-10 Conference standings with an 8-2 mark, trailing Davidson at 10-1.

Sports Open Line host Kevin Wheeler chatted with radio play-by-play announcer Bob Ramsey on what the team has done right this year:

"[The free throw shooting] is unbelievable. It's as good as we've had in many, many years. For the longest time, you feared free throw shooting at the end of the game. You feared you were gonna lose it and legitimately so. Now, it's absolutely a weapon, and its a good one. It's really good."

Billikens point guard Yuri Collins continues to lead the NCAA in total assists (194) and assists per game (8.4). He is second in SLU history for assists in a single season. Additionally, Collins is 11th in the country in steals with 52, just two away from cracking the top 10 all time in a single season at SLU.

"You've got a team that's on a roll. You've got a team that has arguably the best point guard in the country," Ramsey says.

Gibson Jimerson, who is averaging a team-best 17.2 ppg, pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in the Billikens’ win Tuesday at La Salle. Fred Thatch Jr. recorded the first double-double of his career Tuesday at La Salle. The Billikens’ current six-game winning streak has coincided with Thatch entering the starting lineup prior to the UMass home game.
