Police Chief John Hayden says it happened just before 9 p.m. at St. Charles and 20th Street, near the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Headquarters in Downtown West. It's the same location where Demetrise Thomas, 27, was shot and killed Monday around 1 a.m. The crowd was mourning his death.

"There was a car that appeared to be a dark color SUV, fired into the crowd," Hayden says.

Two women were shot in the head, and another in the leg. Hayden says the crowd also included numerous children.

Police offered no details about who died or the conditions of the wounded.

At least 24 people have been shot in St. Louis since Friday.

There were three more shootings in St. Louis overnight, including an 18-year on Thursh Avenue and another person shot multiple times on Caanan Avenue. And in the 4500 block of Alcott, a man was shot and killed with a second person injured.
