KIRKWOOD, MO (KMOX)-Residents of Kirkwood, Oakland and Webster Groves had a rare visitor Saturday, a black bear. Social media reports say the bear was seen in the afternoon on the grounds of Ursuline Academy and then climbing a tree behind Mary Queen of Peace School and Church around dusk. It then climbed down and slipped away to the east.

Kirkwood Police posted on Facebook that residents should keep an eye on outside pets and that they should not try to pet or feed the bear, or take selfies with it.

The Missouri Department of Conservation Department has been notified.
