Only "Sin City" itself, Las Vegas, finished higher on the ranking than St. Louis. WalletHub, found St. Louis to be No. 2 on the ranking which took 37 key indicators of evil deeds into account. The data set ranges from violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking to adult entertainment establishments per capita.

Here's how St. Louis ranked in six main categories of sinfulness:
1st – Anger & Hatred
8th – Jealousy
1st – Excesses & Vices
38th – Lust
48th – Vanity
11th – Laziness

The top 10 most sinful cities on the ranking are:
1. Las Vegas
2. St. Louis
3. Houston
4. Los Angeles
5. Denver
6. Philadelphia
7. Atlanta
8. Miami
9. Chicago
10. Memphis

Two other cities in Missouri made the list as well, with Kansas City at No. 24 and Springfield at No. 45.

For St. Louis, the high ranking was mainly due to its crime. The city was tied for first in both most violent crimes and most thefts per capita, according to the study.

The personal finance site also recently found the "most sinful" states in the U.S. On that ranking, Missouri was No. 15 and Illinois was No. 9.

Recently, St. Louis was also named one of the most unfaithful cities in the nation by the online dating site for married men and women, Ashley Madison.
