CHESTERFIELD, Mo (KMOX) - A Chesterfield couple this week went from annoyed about service from the city, to astonished by police officers who went over and above to help the couple dig out from the recent snowfall.

John Corley and his wife, Stephanie, had an early morning appointment but saw that snowplows had deposited a huge pile of snow at the entrance to their driveway.

Corley says both he and his wife had just gotten over COVID-19, plus he’d just had a medical procedure and a bad back. Stephanie called the Chesterfield streets department to ask if they still offered a service to remove snow build-up for residents who can’t do it themselves, but she was told she needed a letter from a doctor. No way of procuring that before the morning.

Irritated, John was directed to the Chesterfield Police Department where he explained the situation to Officer Jenna Christian.

Corley says he managed to shovel a small path so they could make it to their appointment in the morning.

When they got home, they saw four police cars in front of their house. Then they noticed police officers, including Officer Christian, with shovels clearing out the snow blocking their driveway. One officer even brought their mail up to the house.

“I couldn’t say much because we were both overcome with emotions,” says Corley. “We couldn't thank them enough. What a great community response to a call for help!”
