11-year-old shot by gunman who bursts into St. Louis apartment, opens fire

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - An 11-year-old boy in St. Louis was taken to the hospital after a gunman opened fire inside an apartment with eight other people inside. The boy had a gunshot wound in his torso and was listed in stable condition early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened in the 5800 Block of Selber Ct. in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood of north St. Louis. Police say it happened around 1:30 a.m.

A man knocked on the door of the apartment and when the door was opened the suspect opened fire, police say. Only the 11-year-old boy was shot. There were three other children in the apartment, between the ages of 6 and 14.

A man inside the apartment returned fire and then fled the scene before police arrived.

No arrests were made and the suspect is described as a Black male. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
