More controversy over proposed human waste incinerators in the St. Louis area.
St. Louis County Councilman Ernie Trakas is calling on MSD, the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, to pause its plans for upgrading its human waste incinerators, one in Lemay and one in north St. Louis by Grand along the riverfront.

Trakas says the $900 million project is a boondoggle of reckless spending, that will spew noxious and dangerous pollutants in the region.
MSD says the new incinerators would have less emissions that then current ones, and MSD is repeating its pledge that it won't import human waste from outside the region to burn.
Trakas says he hasn't seen anything in writing promising MSD won't start importing waste from outside the region.
A final decision could come as early as June 8th.
