ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Drug Enforcement Administration wants to warn parents about what their teenagers might be doing upstairs on their phones. They say any kind of illegal drug you can think of can be ordered over the phone and delivered to your front door.
Special Agent in Charge of the DEA in St. Louis, Todd Zimmerman, says gone are the days of cash transactions in a dark alley. Many drugs, he says, are bought by kids sitting in their room, ordering them on Snapchat.
And they be getting mailed to your home just like any normal package.
"If there's a package at your front door and it's address to your child or young adult, open it," Zimmerman says. "Open it and see what's in there. It's your house. You have the right and authority to protect your house and your family."
Zimmerman says overdoses are up, associated with internet-ordered drugs as many of the pills are laced with fentanyl, which can be deadly.
He urges parents to visit JustThinkTwice.gov to learn more about any and all of the drugs that are affecting the lives of children around the U.S.
