KMOX News spoke with people on the streets of Clayton. They have mixed feelings:

"I think it's good. Hopefully things go back to normal. See some smiling faces."

"I'll probably still have a mask on just in case. There are stores where people are super sensitive to it."

"I lost too many people to this sickness. Keep the masks until the virus is gone."

The St. Louis County mask order does remain in effect for hospitals, public transportation and private businesses that choose to require it.

The mask mandate for public places in the state of Illinois also ends. A statement released by Governor JB Pritzker's office says cases and hospitalizations have continued to drop.

The release says weekly COVID-19 case rates have declined by 70 percent since the Governor announced plans to lift the indoor mask requirement early this month.
