More questions about whether politics is stalling a bill that would restrict people from strutting down the street with long rifles in the city of St. Louis, unless they have a concealed carry permit.

A measure sponsored by Alderwoman Cara Spencer would do just that, and she wants it done before July 14th when the board breaks for summer recess. But it's tied up in the City Counselor's office pending legal review.

Spencer was asked if Mayor Jones' Administration may be stalling the bill because its passage would give Spencer something to campaign on if she were to run for mayor again, "I do think there's politics, going on, at play here, and its unfortunate, there are people's lives on the line here, our city is on the line." Spencer says she's willing to "share the glory" if it passes.

The Mayor's office says she's taking no position on the bill, pending an opinion from the City Counselor, and they say she's "exploring all sorts of avenues to reduce gun violence under state laws."
