ARREST MADE: Police catch man who allegedly stole from dying woman on sidewalk

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) updated with arrest info - St. Louis police have made an arrest in the case of a person stealing a cell phone from a woman who was laying on the street unconscious and later died.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says 35-year-old Brian Davenport was arrested and issued one count of felony stealing.

No other details were released.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the person who was seen stealing from a woman who laid unconscious on the ground and later died.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department released surveillance video from the 1200 block of Lynch on Sunday afternoon. It shows a person getting out of a red van, walking up to the woman laying on the ground, stealing her phone and getting back into the van.

Police say a man stole the cellphone of a woman, who was dying after collapsing while jogging near the Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis.

The woman collapsed at 12th and Lynch Streets at about 1:15 Sunday afternoon, police tell KMOX. While she was on the ground, a man got out of a red van, took the victim's cell phone and drove off.

The woman later died at a hospital.

There's surveillance video of the incident, which reportedly shows the 64-year-old woman fall multiple times and hit her head on the ground after trying to use her phone. She was taken to the hospital about an hour after collapsing and died of a heart attack, according to KSDK.

KMOX asked if the surveillance video or photos of the suspect will be release and is waiting for a reply from police.
