ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones says the people who jumped on top of, danced on and stomped a police vehicle with an officer inside will "have to face consequences for their behavior."

Her statement was posted to Twitter Monday afternoon, as videos of the incident that happened early Sunday morning have gone viral on social media. Police shared video with us of views from both inside and outside the cop car:

Police say there were no injuries but shared a photo of the "substantial" damage the vehicle suffered.

"Our office has reviewed the video of people jumping on our patrol cars this weekend. While I'm thankful (St. Louis Police) responded quickly and dispersed the crowd without conflict or injury, I'm disappointed in those people who will now have to face consequences for their behavior," Jones stated in a tweet. "Let me be clear: You can go out and have a good time without all this nonsense. If we are committed to building a stronger city, we need to show some courtesy and respect."

Police say around 2:30 a.m. they responded to the the 1500 block of Washington Avenue where a large party was taking place in an apartment building. Police say they received 13 calls about it.

As more than 100 people flooded the street a "mob jumped onto the police car," police say. A city-wide "Officer in Need of Aid" call was sent out and a large police presence then flooded the area.

Police say shots were fired in the area shortly after this incident.

Police are now asking for help to identify the people in this video and others posted to social media. Anyone with information can call a 4th District Detective directly at 314-444-2500, or anyone with a tip who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a reward can contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
