Missouri residents can now get free at-home COVID tests

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Any Missouri resident can now take a COVID-19 test for free from the comfort of their home.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced it will now be shipping tests directly to anyone in the state. The kit will arrive in two days and it good for six months, according to the state's website.

The nasal swap test kits are sent for free via FedEx and must be returned in the prepaid FedEx shipping envelope that's included. It must be sent within 24 hours of taking the test.

The state says results are provided via email within two days.

"A COVID-19 test is a one-time assessment, and will only show if the individual is infected at the time of the test," the state says. "For those experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, testing is highly recommended. Those who have had significant contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 should also consider being tested."
