ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Rush Limbaugh's widow, Kathryn, shared audio on his show Tuesday of a conversation she had with him about the plans for his funeral, which took place at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis. She says they called his funeral, "the event."
Kathryn Limbaugh said that in her opinion Rush is just shy of a U.S. President so he needed a funeral that was worthy of him. She says a horse-drawn carriage was used to take Rush to the chapel at the cemetery and he was escorted into the chapel as his favorite version of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" playing.
"We prayed around his final resting place and played more of his favorite songs including Ray Charles, 'America the Beautiful' and a musical version of the Irish Blessing," Kathryn Limbaugh says.
She says there will be pictures of Rush Limbaugh's funeral on his website Wednesday.
The 70-year-old Limbaugh died on February 17 after a year-long battle with advanced lung cancer.
He was laid to rest at the historic St. Louis cemetery last week. Security was very tight at the small, private funeral. A horse-drawn carriage was brought in to carry "El Rushbo," as he was known to his fans, to his final resting place.
