ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - There's a new COVID-19 indoor mask mandate in St. Louis County. Public health director Dr. Faisal Khan put it into effect Monday morning.
The mandate states everyone at least 5-years-old must wear a mask in indoor public places and on public transportation regardless of vaccination status.

County Executive Dr. Sam Page announced the development, "Dr. Khan said in his letter to the council, slowing the transmission of COVID-19 requires a two-prong strategy - vaccination plus the wearing of masks in all public indoor settings."
Page said the administration's legal team feels this one will withstand any legal challenges, and this order effectively replaces the previous one challenged in court.
"The pushback against masks has slowed our progress in slowing this virus," Page said. "The confusion caused by misinformation about masks and vaccines is dangerous. Grandstanding legal actions at the state level has endangered residents here and across Missouri."
