ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis health department is promoting that one of the city's icons has signed up to get the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday morning at the new mega vaccination site.
City of St. Louis Department of Health posted a photo on Facebook of Hall of Famer and former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith signing a consent form to be vaccinated at St. Louis Community College - Forest Park. The college gymnasium is being used as the first mega vaccination site in the city.
The vaccination site will be open on Thursday and Friday, and the city says you must have an appointment in order to receive a vaccine. You can sign up through the city's COVID-19 vaccine registration system, here.
The city is starting to vaccinate the Tier 3 group, including teachers, military and government workers.
Missouri will activate Phase 2 of the state's COVID-19 Vaccination Plan on Monday and Phase 3 on April 9. Phase 2 includes people who are essential to equitable economic recovery, disproportionately affected populations with an emphasis on racial and ethnic minorities and the homeless.
Phase 3 will make vaccinations open to all Missouri adults – which will make an estimated 1.1 million Missourians newly eligible.
