St. Louis (KMOX) -- Professional wrestling is set to return to St. Louis for the first time in nearly four decades.

Owner Billy Corrigan announces on FITE TV that the National Wrestling Alliance will come to the Chase Park Plaza from August 28-31. The four-day event will feature an all-women's event called Empower.

"The NWA is returning to St. Louis on August 28, 29, 30, and 31. It will be historic. Be there," Corrigan said on the broadcast.

The National Wrestling Alliance will mark its 73rd anniversary.

Pro wrestling aired in St. Louis from the 1950s through the early 1980s. Hulk Hogan once fought here.
