Radio insider explains how listeners are targeted through their digital habits

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - "You know exactly who you're talking to and how many people you're reaching in the digital realm," explains Rob Kramer, General Sales Manager with Audacy - St. Louis. Kramer is the latest guest of the "What the Media?!!?" podcast with KMOX's Megan Lynch and Author Julie Smith. The podcast takes a critical look at the media with the goal of helping people make smart decisions about how they use media messages.

Kramer says for the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, he can look at the streaming analytics and see that many people 'tuned in' at KMOX.com to hear what had happened. It's an example of how radio was able to 'funnel' people to broadcasts through digital portals.

Analytics are also valuable as a tool to help focus in on segments of listeners to tailor advertising. "[For example] Google Analytics is just a software that measures software traffic," says Kramer.
