
St. Louis (KMOX) - A pair of Missouri cities were ranked in the top-10 of the best weekend getaways in the Midwest.
U.S. News and World Report magazine studied a dozen states in the Midwest and ranked the best 27 cities for weekend vacations.
The criteria in the rankings included value, opportunities for adventure, and dining options. The study ranked Branson No. 3 and St. Louis No. 7 among all cities on the list. Here's the full top-10:

5. Indianapolis
6. Minneapolis - St. Paul
7. St. Louis
8. Traverse City
9. Springfield, Ill.
10. Kansas City
U.S. News highlights what it calls St. Louis' diverse selection of affordable things to do which makes it an excellent weekend destination.
"And yes, there's the Gateway Arch – that gleaming curve of stainless steel. But beyond St. Louie's star attractions, you'll find a vibrant city that has plenty to offer for beer, food, sports and music enthusiasts," the report states.
For Branson, the report calls it a "family-friendly Las Vegas," with plenty of amusement parks, shopping, museums and natural attractions like Table Rock Lake.
"Even the Branson Strip, which glows with neon lights and is lined with dozens of theaters performing shows that range from country western family acts to comedy routines, possesses a yesteryear ambiance," The report states.
