ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - St. Louis County expects to have to halt vaccinations on Tuesday because of a lack of COVID-19 vaccine doses.
People are already scheduled for the vaccine, based on projected allocations from the state. But County Health spokesman Christopher Ave tells KMOX, the vaccine supply from Missouri has been nonexistent since the middle of January.
Ave says the County's orders have been rejected from the state, a hospital partner supplied them with vaccine last week and this week they expect another 1,950 doses from a hospital group.
"Unfortunatley, despite the conversations that have gone on (with the state), we have yet to receive a clear answer or direction on how much vaccine we will get, when we will get it, or from whom we will get it," Ave says.
To date, St. Louis County's public health department has vaccinated 10,000 people with the first dose and another 700 received the second vaccine.
Ave tells KMOX, St. Louis County was told they would not be receiving vaccine doses this week, which is contrary to public statements Missouri's Health and Senior Services Director made last week.
The County is, however, receiving 1,950 doses of the vaccine this week from one of the hospital groups. They say vaccinations will go forward until the supply runs out.
