Police say they received a call about two people sleeping in a car in a residential area. When they knocked on the window to wake the two men, officers say they saw a firearm near the driver. The driver put the car in reverse and rammed an O'Fallon Police car.

Both police officers discharged their weapons, as the car took off, eventually crashing at Mexico Road and Aspen Pointe Drive. Investigators say the officers provided life saving measures, but the driver was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The second man was arrested without incident.

Police say the car was stolen from St. Louis County. St. Charles County Police are handling the shooting investigation.
