ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The body of a St. Louis mother of four who had been missing since last week has been found by Illinois State Police...a day after the ex-boyfriend admitted to her murder.
Family members say 29-year-old Marquisha Williams, a mother of four, did not show up for work last Wednesday after dropping her kids off at daycare. The St. Louis County Police Department said 31-year-old Trenton Ivy, the ex-boyfriend, admitted to murdering Williams while he was in police custody.
Thursday morning, Williams' family and volunteers started their search at East Athlone Ave and North Broadway. Williams' step father said they would begin by retracing their steps and double checking areas they've already searched.
Terrence Chavis, William's step-father, said it was beyond important they found her so the community can have closure.
"We need closure. It's not just Marvin and my wife and myself that needs closure, St. Louis needs closure," Chavis said.
The family is grateful for the help in the last few days as search crews came from all over. "I'll tell you a million times: St. Louis, East St. Louis, Illinois, Centralia, somebody's coming from Mount Vernon, somebody's here from Troy, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you," Chavis said.
On December 23rd, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued a sealed warrant on Ivy, charging him for Murder First Degree. On December 22nd, Ivy was arrested in Wisconsin on unrelated charges, but both him and Williams had been reported missing since the 20th.
When Ivy was arrested, the Racine Police Department in Wisconsin said he was in Williams' car. Detectives then learned that apparent blood and "biological material" was in the vehicle, along with some of her belongings. During a post-Miranda interview with detectives, Ivy admitted to having a physical altercation with Williams which lead to her death. He also admitted to disposing of her body in an unknown location.
