Hundreds of volunteers will walk among the graves at Jefferson Barracks laying wreaths this Saturday. Kathy Schulte is one of the volunteer locations coordinators. She told KMOX about who specifically she’ll honor.

“Our honor is to lay wreaths on those who were lost at Pearl Harbor. So it’s not as many graves, it’s 24 gentlemen, though, who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor,” she said.

Following a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, wreath laying will begin at noon. Coordinator Janelle Eveld said they’re hoping people wait a bit to show up.

We’re asking for the public not to go to the cemetery in the mornings,” she said. “We’re trying to give the families a chance to place their loved ones’ wreath and spend some quiet time reflecting on their lives.”

Over 32,000 balsam-fir wreaths will be laid at the National Cemetery.
