For the second time in six months, the Mega Millions jackpot will top $1 billion.

Friday’s drawing came and went without any of the players nationwide matching all six winning numbers necessary to take home the overall jackpot.

Those numbers were 3, 20, 46, 59, 63 and Mega Ball 13.

As a result, the previous $940 million jackpot will swell to $1.1 billion by the next drawing on Tuesday.

That total is the third-largest in the game’s history. The top three totals were each worth over a billion dollars to the winners.

The second-largest total occurred just six months ago when a July 2022 jackpot reached $1.337 billion before someone drew the lucky numbers.

The game’s biggest jackpot ever was a $1.537 billion prize in October 2018.

“Mega Millions has just reached the $1 billion mark again,” said Pat McDonald, the director of the Ohio Lottery and lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium, in a press release issued Saturday morning. “It’s especially nice to see the jackpot grow throughout the holidays and into the new year.”

The current jackpot has been growing since October, when a pair of winners shared a $502 million prize and restarted the pot.

The next drawing is set for Tuesday, January 10.
