JEFFERSON CITY (KMOX) -- Missouri Gov. Mike Parson sidesteps the question of whether there should be a ban on vaccine mandates in the workplace.

"I think it's a really important discussion when you start going down that road," Parson said. "You got to understand the importance of people's freedoms when you start talking about that as a business owner.

"Me, personally, as a business owner myself -- I don't like the government telling me what I can do or I can't do."

Parson says employer mandates are "problematic" but "if you own a business, you're a business."

Some members of the Missouri Senate have proposed trying to pass a ban on workplace vaccine mandates during the veto session in September.
