JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KMOX) - "It was safe in March, it was safe in June, it was safe in August, it will be safe in November," Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, during a Facebook live question and answer session with voters Monday morning.
Ashcroft says election officials across the state have been given millions of dollars in federal assistance for COVID control measures, "we've worked with local election authorities to make sure they know how they can disinfect their equipmen. We've also worked with the manufacturers of that."
Ashcroft says the Secretary of State's Office has also been providing masks, face shields, hand santizer, distancing strips and reminder posters for the November election.
The Secretary of State is pushing for in-person voting, "if you don't read any of the information that we put out there. If you don't know that the law has changed, but you just go to your polling place on election day and you're registered to vote, you'll be able to vote." He pointed out, the majority of Missourians qualify for in-person absentee voting, if voters don't want to bother with the post office or notaries.
The Secretary of State's office has compiled a chart that list all the voting options and how to complete them.
