JEFFERSON CITY (KMOX) - Missouri state Rep. Sara Walsh announced on Twitter that her husband Steve Walsh died Thursday morning. He was hospitalized after contracting COVID-19.
Her tweet says in part, "It saddens my heart to share that this morning my best friend and beloved husband Steve Walsh was welcomed to Heaven’s glory into the arms of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. Arrangements pending. Thank you to everyone who has lifted us up in prayer."
Walsh represents Missouri's 50th District which includes parts of Boone, Cole, Cooper and Moniteau Counties. She also contracted the virus earlier this month, but didn't need to go to the hospital.
She said in a tweet on Aug. 3, "please pray for my precious husband @Stevewalsh2010. He is very sick and is in the hospital."
Walsh has served in her position since 2017 and is a former coordinator for the Missouri Pharmacy Association.
She is the current Republican Majority Caucus Chair and is campaigning for the 4th congressional district seat currently held by Rep. Vicky Hartzler. Her husband previously worked as Hartzler’s press secretary.
