DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A Dallas County jury has sentenced Desmond Jones to 99 years in prison for taking part in the June 2018 kidnapping and murder of 13-year old Shavon Randle of Lancaster.

Earlier Friday, Jones was convicted of engaging in organized criminal activity in Randle's kidnapping and murder.

The 24-year old Pleasant Grove man is the first to stand trial for the abduction and shooting death of the Lancaster girl.

Jones was the one who led police to the house where Randle's body was found and defense attorney Allan Fishburn says it was Jones who gave the FBI statements implicating other members of a drug gang.

Dallas County Prosecutor Jennifer Falk says the girl was kidnapped and killed by the drug gang because her cousin was dating a man involved in a drug robbery, and it was done in retaliation.

Jones erupts in anger and has to be carried out of the courtroom kicking and fighting a group of deputies. Judge takes attorneys back in chambers. #DesmondJonesTrial
