DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys will be without three of their key starters for Wednesday's practice ahead of their season opener according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
Defensive Sam Williams (turf toe), safety Donovan Wilson (calf) and left tackle Tyler Smith (hamstring) will each miss practice due to various injuries and will spend the day rehabbing with Cowboys director of rehabilitation Britt Brown.
And according to McCarthy, the goal is to have Smith and Wilson ready and back to practicing by the end of the week.
"(Smith and Wilson) are in a similar category,'' McCarthy said. "They'll work with (trainer) Britt (Brown) today ... and the goal will be to get them in practice by the end of the week."''
As for the status of Williams, it is as of yet unclear whether or not he will be ready to go by Sunday, as he has yet to suit up for practice this week.
Luckily in terms of the Williams absence, the Cowboys still have one of the best edge rushing duos in the NFL with DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons.
The Cowboys and Giants kick off on Sunday Night Football at 7:20 pm, with Dallas hopeful to have all three players in the lineup by kickoff.
