DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Mavericks are requiring all fans who attend games this season to show proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative test taken 48 hours prior to the game.
The team made the announcement in an email to Club Maverick members (aka their season ticket holders), just a week before they are scheduled to host their first preseason game vs the Utah Jazz on Oct. 6.

Fans will also be required to wear a mask throughout the game, except when they are actively eating or drinking, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.
Children under the age of 12 who are not seated within 15 feet of the court are not required to comply with the vaccine or testing requirements, but all children over the age of 2 must still wear a mask unless actively eating or drinking.
The Mavericks say they will have staff at each door of the American Airlines Center checking proof of vaccination or negative tests and will deny entry to fans who don't comply with the requirements.
Beginning Friday, the Mavs will offer fans the option to upload their proof of vaccination and negative tests at MavsCheckin.com. Fans are also permitted to bring a printed or digital copy of their documents to the AAC.
All transactions at concession stands, bars, merchandise stands, etc. will remain cashless.
The team has not yet released a statement on their decision, but you can review their entire Health and Safety Protocols here.
The Dallas Stars, the Mavericks co-resident at the American Airlines Center, held their first home preseason game on Wednesday night.
Their policy at the time stated that masks were required to enter the arena, but it was not required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. However, the team said the "Health and Safety protocols could change at any point based on NHL, federal, state or local guidance."
It's unknown if the policy the Mavericks announced Thursday will be in effect for all events at the American Airlines Center moving forward, or for their games only.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors have similar fan policies, but the Thunder are the only other team to implement their policy without a requirement from their local government.
