Vanessa Walls, executive vice president of the Northern Market for Children's Health says the expansion was first approved in 2019.

"What drove us to that point was to see the volumes that we were experiencing on campus that were continuing to tick up year by year," Wells said "And particularly in the winter season...the volume is higher in the winter season for pediatrics."

The seven-floor, 300,000-square-foot tower will house expanded specialty care programs such as cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, orthopedics and neurology, among others.

It will give residents in the Collin County area easier access to top-notch pediatric services.

"We also saw folks in this area, receiving care in Dallas, but giving us feedback that they'd really like to receive their care closer to home," says Wells.

The expansion is expected to open by early 2024.
