A one time social media fitness influencer is on the hook for half a million dollars with the state of Texas over deceptive business practices.

A former self-proclaimed fitness influencer Brittany Dawn Davis has settled with the state and has agreed to pay more than $500,000 in penalties, restitution and attorney fees. The Texas Attorney General's Office was seeking up to $1 million in penalties and fees.

The state accused her of scamming thousands of naive customers by not delivering fitness and nutrition plans that she offered online.

The judgment states Davis may not offer or sell any nutrition or fitness plans and may not represent herself as having any special knowledge or training to address eating disorders when she does not.

Davis built her following by posting fitness and health content on the social meida apps Instagram and Tik Tok and claimed she overcame an eating disorder. By 2019, thousands of people had complained that Dawn wasn't delivering them the customized plans they'd paid her for.
