120 people evacuated during Irving apartment complex fire

120 people were forced out of their apartments at an Irving complex in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a fire broke out.

According to the Fire Department, the incident took place at the two-story Bentwood Apartments, located in the 800 block of S. Nursey Road. They say they responded to the fire just after 1 a.m. and eventually had the blaze controlled by 3:30 a.m.

Overall, 29 pieces of emergency equipment were sent in response to what was eventually declared a three-alarm fire.

Those forced to leave their homes are currently being looked after at the Senter Park Recreation Center, while the Red Cross is also assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
