Through Sunday, just 31,550 people had voted early in Denton County elections. Denton County has 607,463 total registered voters, meaning turnout is about 5.2%.

Early voting on local elections across Texas continues through Tuesday. Election Day is Saturday.

Among issues in Denton County is a bond totaling almost $2 billion for Northwest ISD. The district is one of the fastest growing in Texas, growing from 6,177 students 20 years ago to 29,248 now.

Northwest ISD is asking for a bond split into three parts. The three combined represent the largest bond the district has ever sought.

Proposition A totals $1,672,193,000 and would pay for school improvements. Proposition A includes the construction of a fourth high school, a new middle school, four new elementary schools and four early childhood centers. The measure would also replace Justin Elementary School and Prairie View Elementary School.

"As we continue to grow as a fast-growth school district, our campuses are reaching capacity at the high school level. High school number four will provide relief for that," Assistant Superintendent Tim McClure said in a video supporting the bond.

McClure says Proposition A would allow for renovations at other schools to plan for future growth. Northwest ISD says the expansions would accommodate an additional 8,400 students.

McClure says the measure would also include money for security, including improvements to camera and door access systems.

Proposition B would include $301,555,000 for stadium renovations. The measure would pay for new stadiums at Byron Nelson and Eaton High Schools as well as the planned fourth high school.

"Each stadium would feature 7,000 spectator seats providing enough room for 6A crowds while maintaining a community atmosphere," says Northwest ISD Executive Director of Athletics Joel Johnson.

Johnson says the stadiums would host football games but also provide space for other events like band and cheerleading competitions.

Proposition C would include $21,752,000 for technology devices for students and teachers.

All three propositions would increase the tax rate a tenth of one cent. Northwest ISD says the average home value in the district is $450,000. The district says the change would cost the average homeowner an additional $4.10 per year.
