
DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A major fire has been reported at an apartment complex in southeast Dallas, following a natural gas explosion, authorities confirm.
According to reports, Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the complex located on the 5700 block of Highland Hills Drive.
When firefighters arrived, the smell of gas was noticed around an apartment building near the gate entrance. At some point during the course of investigating the odor, an explosion occurred; causing a partial collapse of the two-story apartment building, according to officials.
Four Dallas firefighters and three civilians were hurt in the explosion. All individuals were taken to Parkland Hospital for evaluation of a variety of injuries. Three firefighters are in critical condition and all others are listed as stable, according to officials.
There is no information on what caused the explosion, as this will be a joint investigation involving Dallas Fire Rescue, along with multiple local, state and federal agencies, to determine exactly what happened.
