Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants state lawmakers to come up with new laws dealing with criminals who cut off their ankle monitors.

Governor Abbott in a letter to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dade Phelan claims that in recent months that two convicted criminals, Nestor Hernandez and Zeric Jackson, were released on parole yet went on to commit murders while wearing ankle monitors as a condition of their parole.

Dallas police chief Eddie Garcia has grown frustrated with judges who are letting out dangerous criminals on low bond or simply under the supervision of ankle monitors.

Gov. Abbott wants to introduce legislation that creates criminal penalties for parolees who cut off their ankle monitors and prioritize their arrest and apprehension.
