In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet this week's featured Pet Pal, Abigail!

This tall drink of water is Abigail…her friends call her Abby! She is a 7-year-old female Great Dane who can be goofy at times but always loving and friendly. She is a sweet and easy going girl once you understand that she has some fun quirks! She would love a yard to prance around and a family that will give her lots of love and attention! If you're a Dane lover, come on in and meet her! She would do best as an only dog, but you can also bring your current dog in to meet her to see if they get along nicely. Please no kiddos under 15 years for her. If you are a human 65 or older and adopt a dog or cat, like Abigail, over the age of 7 years, the adoption is free thanks to our Seniors for Seniors program! If you’d like to adopt Abigail, you can visit her at the Dallas Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day between noon and 6 p.m. She’s ready to wag her way into your heart!
Meet Prince!

Meet Prince! Yes, he is a royal pooch, but you won’t have to bow. He’s more than happy to mingle with common folk. Prince is a Terrier, American Pit Bull mix with a regal taupe coat who weighs in at a hefty 69 pounds. He is 9 years old, so he has seen quite a bit in his lifetime. He’s looking for the perfect family to live out his golden years with, and a great candidate for the “Seniors for Seniors” program. He gets along with kids and other dogs quite well, so he’s a good fit for just about anyone. He is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/prince/
Meet Zeke!

Meet Zeke! He is a 7-year-old Pittie mix looking for a forever home at the SPCA of Texas. Zeke weighs 72 pounds, so he’s a bigger guy. But he’s lovable as can be and has the friendliest grin on his face when he’s having a good time (and he does like to have fun). He also likes to chill out on couches and catch the latest TV shows. He gets along well with other dogs and seems to be a good fit for kids too, so bring the whole family down to the shelter to meet him. He is currently housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/zeke/
Meet Angelo!

Meet Willy Wonka! Angelo is a mixed breed dog who is 2-and-a-half years old and weighs 73 pounds. He has a black coat with a white head and underside. Angelo is a good boy, but he is very shy and timid. He’s sweet once he is comfortable with someone, but he needs to get his confidence up. The right owner could make this boy shine when he is secure in his forever home. He’s OK with other dogs, but he’d probably prefer to me the only dog in the home. Angelo is currently residing at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/angelo/
Meet Black Bear!

Meet Black Bear! He’s obviously a feline despite the name, and he thinks he looks more like a panther, but he’s OK with whatever you want to call him. Black Bear is a Domestic Shorthair mix with a jet-black coat of super-soft fur. His big yellow eyes love to soak in his surroundings and he’s quite the inquisitive guy. Like many cats, Black Bear can be a little shy on first meeting, but he’s won over quickly with time, treats and toys. He’s currently housed in the cat rotunda at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet him in person. https://spca.org/adoptable/black-bear/
